Institution

The Chestnut Hill Historical Society works to preserve and enhance the unique architectural, community and natural resources of Chestnut Hill, a National Historic district and early railroad suburb within Philadelphia. The society maintains a research archives and library along with a variety of programs featuring exhibits, lectures, tours, and events. These activities are supplemented by direct preservation efforts, including an award-winning easement program and direct intervention to prevent the demolition of historic buildings.

More than 15,000 items including: architectural drawings and other building records; more that 3,000 photographs, maps, including real estate atlases from the 1870's through the 1930's; prints, drawings, deeds, diaries, genealogical materials, books, taped and transcribed oral histories; selected objects.
