As Margaret Henderson Floyd stated: "The office occupied in Boston a position similar to that of McKim, Mead, and White in New York. From the Massachusetts Institute of Technology came the best students, who continued on to independent practice and soon formed a network from coast to coast." Certainly the influence of Peabody & Stearns can be seen in the work of Theophilus Parsons Chandler in Philadelphia. The firm itself produced several designs in and around Philadelphia, including the Van Rensselaer mansion in Philadelphia and the grand Percival Roberts house in Narberth, PA.
