Born in Bristol, PA, the daughter of the Rev. Henry Flavel and Anne Townsend (Cooper) Lee, Anne Lee Willet gained much of her education in art at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, where she studied with Thomas Anshutz. In 1896 she married William Willet. With her husband Anne Lee Willet established a prominent stained glass studio, first in Pittsburgh, then in Philadelphia, where it was expanded by her son Henry Lee Willet.
