Born: 1834 Born in Brunswick, Germany, Carl Pfeiffer came to the United States around 1850. By 1864 he had established an architectural office in New York City. His career prospered with such projects as the Church of the Messiah, Roosevelt Hospital, and the Berkshire Apartment House.
