English-born and trained, Gordon W. Lloyd emigrated to the United States in 1858. He resided in Windsor, Ontario, but opened an architectural office in Detroit and established a thriving practice specializing in church design, especially for Episcopalian churches. In Pennsylvania his work can be found in Trinity Cathedral (1870-71) in Pittsburgh and in the Cathedral of St. Paul (1866), Erie.
