Philadelphia Real Estate Record and Builders Guide listings for William R. Dougherty appear regularly, beginning in 1900 and continuing into the 1930s, and there is a William R. Dougherty listed in Philadelphia city directories for that time. However, it is not clear that these are the same Dougherty since the one found in city directories consistently lists himself as a carpenter. From PRERBG citations it appears that Dougherty worked with several of the large engineering and building companies in Philadelphia and even extended his range of work beyond the Philadelphia area.
