Born: 12/8/1863, Died: 8/15/1909 Westray Ladd was born in Hong Kong, to American parents who brought him back to Bucksport, ME, when he was one year old. He received his early education in New England and during the 1880s entered the office of Wheelwright & Haven in Boston, MA. He spent nearly 10 years in offices in the Boston area, including those of William Emerson and Peabody & Stearns, before coming to Philadelphia and opening an independent office in November, 1883. Thereafter, he continued individual practice until his health forced him to retire in 1902. His was primarily a residential practice, including a number of homes in the Overbrook section of the city where he himself resided.Ladd was a member of the American Institute of Architects and of the T-Square Club.
