Louis L. Calvert attended the Pennsylvania Museum and School of Industrial Art, and by 1891 is listed in the Philadelphia city directories as an architect. By 1897 he is transformed into an artist in the directories, and in 1898 appears as an engineer. From 1899 to 1901, Calvert was associated with Henry A. Macomb in the firm of Macomb & Calvert; but according to Macomb's AlA application, Calvert withdrew from the firm in 1901. Following that time, he also disappears from the Philadelphia city directories.

Calvert was a member of the T-Square Club and served on its house committee for the term 1900/1901.
