Competition for the Design of a small city house
Local ID #: 1915/101
AIA/T-Square Yearbook, p. 101 (1915)

Born: 7/7/1883, Died: 1954

Almern C. Howard spent several years working for other architects before he and George Trautwein formally established the parnership of Trautwein & Howard in 1946. Walter Smedley employed Howard from 1902 to 1908, but he embarked on a long relationship with the firms associated with and succeeding Frank Miles Day & Bro., with whom he remained from 1908 to 1910. He then stayed on with Day Bros. & Klauder from 1910 to 1918, and Charles Z. Klauder from 1918 to 1938. Thus Howard spent some twenty years in the employ of Frank Miles Day or one of his successor firms.

Howard was member of the T-Square Club, serving on their executive committee and as corresponding secretary in 1905/06. In addition he was a member of the AIA and its Philadelphia Chapter.
