Born: 5/10/1894, Died: 1965 Although Albert A. Klimcheck is best known as a Pittsburgh architect, he was born, educated and worked in Philadelphia before moving to Pittsburgh. From 1914 to 1932 Klimcheck worked for firms associated with Charles Z. Klauder, and it was from this connection that Klimcheck began his work in Pittsburgh by designing the European and Asian Nationality rooms in Klauder's Cathedral of Learning at the University of Pittsburgh. Klimcheck remained in Pittsburgh as the Supervising Architect for the University, beginning in 1933, and designed a number of buildings for the campus, including the Engineering Building (1955).
