By August 1908 Joshua C. Jeffries is listed by the Gage Publishing Co. "List of Architects" as head draftsman for Ballinger & Perrot, but by 1908 he has begun to appear independently in the Philadelphia Real Estate Record and Builders Guide, with several projects noted in New Jersey. From 1908 to 1924 Jeffries lists himself as an architect in the Philadelphia city directories, with offices in the Mutual Life Building until 1922 when his listing changes to 712 Walnut Street. It is possible that after this time he moved to New Jersey because later records indicate an informal association between him and veteran architect Arnold Moses.

Throughout most of his listings Jeffries resides in Merchantville, NJ.
