Samuel D. Milner received his Certificate in Architectural Drawing from Drexel Institute's Evening School in 1900. He subsequently spent at least 1900 to 1906 working for G. W. & W. D. Hewitt, but by 1909 was employed as assistant draftsman for the Philadelphia Board of Public Education, with whom he remained at least through 1912. His first independent projects are noted in the Philadelphia Real Estate Record and Builders Guide in 1914, and he continued in independent practice at least through 1934.
