Although chiefly known as an architect based in London, England, Thomas Harris did have some impact on Philadelphia. He supplied the design for the British Executive Commissioner and Delegate Residence for the Centennial Exposition held in Philadelphia in 1876. According to his Macmillan biography, Harris was an "outspoken proponent of iron as a building maerial."
