Born in Rochester, Ny, and chiefly associated with his home state, Clarence S. Stein received his architectural education at Columbia University, followed by the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Stein was instrumental in the founding of the Regional Planning Association of America, and most of his work falls within the category of planning.
