Prolific Boston architect Guy Lowell undertook the study of architecture at both MIT and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. By 1900 he was working in his own office in Boston and proceeded to develop a career based upon the design of grand country houses. In Pennsylvania he was involved with the design of the University of Pittsburgh.
