Born: 7/10/1898, Died: 1966

Albert Ely Ives was born in Newburgh, NY, and received his early education at the New York School of Fine Arts, graduating in 1918 and continuing his education with that institution's branch in Paris through 1921. In 1922 he was a draftsman for Theodate Pope, worked for Delano & Aldrich in 1925, for Trainor & Fateo in 1926, and Addison Mizner in 1928. He then established a partnership, Ives & Hogan, and eventually organized an independent firm bearing his name only in 1955. In 1927 Ives was associated with alterations and additions to the original du Pont residence in order to house the collections of Henry Francis du Pont. This was the nucleus of the present-day Winterthur Museum in Delaware.

By the time of the 1962 edition of American Architects Directory, Ives was residing and working in Honolulu, where he was a member of the Hawaii Chapter of the AIA. According to the "Necrology" section of the 1970 edition, Ives died in 1966.
