In 1904 Palmer & Hornbostel (Henry Hornbostel and William Palmer) won the competition for the Carnegie Institute of Technology campus in Pittsburgh, a commission which effectively enlarged their New York office. Other local commissions followed, including the design for the city hall in Pittsburgh and that in Wilmington, DE (1910) as well as the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial in Pittsburgh (1907).
