MARC Description:
Front & side elevations. This drawing was received with other drawings by William L. Price, ca. 1897-1899. Shown is a stone fireplace with Tudor style wood overmantle, in a wood panelled hall. The words of the description "for the H. Hessenbruch" have been rubbed out. If this was done intensionally by Price, this could indicate the drawings usage for another project. However, the barely legible words correspond with the documentation of a 1897 project by Price for the "H. Hessenbruch residence at Merion" given in the Philadelphia real estate record and builder's guide. A floor plan for the 1898 country house for Alan Reed at Devon, given by George Thomas in William L. Price, builder of men and of buildings (U. of Pa, Dissertation, 1975) also shows an entrance hall with fireplace.
