InstitutionChartered in 1883 "to preserve the civil, political and religious history of the county and to promote the study of history," the Society operates a museum and library, conducts programs and workshops, sponsors a genealogy study group, and publishes a semi-annual Bulletin and reprints significant county histories and maps from time to time.
