Records dating back to the 17th century to 1856 relating to Germantown Township (Germantown, Mt. Airy, Chestnut Hill) and from 1856 to the present documenting the Germantown community. Included are archives of the Philadelphia-Germantown-Norristown Railroad, the African-American Genealogy Group, newspapers, maps, land records, deeds, and hundreds of individual and organizational inventories and records. The photograph collection includes thousands of glass plate negatives, daguerreotypes, and lantern slides. Other offerings include rare books, oral history interviews, and an extensive collection on the Wissahickon.
