- Local Items-"The County Buildings-We have been shown a plan for improving the present public buildings so as to make them commodious and sufficient for the public wants, without the necessity of erecting new ones. The plan prepared by Mr. Jas. Mitchell and Mr. John Riddell, architects, proposes to raise an additional story to the present buildings, giving four large and four small rooms, and to convert the basement into fire-proof buildings, the whole to be constructed, at a cost of only $35,000 leaving Independence Square untouched and unaltered."
