"The business was established 25 years ago by William Whiteside, with whom Mr. McLanahan became associated in 1885, the firm name Whiteside & McLanahan appearing in 1888. Since the death of William Whiteside in 1890, the business has been carried on by McLanahan . . with such success . . ."
